This is a letter to our friends –

“OP´TIMISM, n. [L. optimus, best.] The opinion or doctrine that everything in nature is ordered for the best; or the order of things in the universe that is adapted to produce the most good.

The true and amiable philosophy of optimism. Walsh.

A system of strict optimism may be the real system in both cases. Paley.” [Webster ‘s 1828 dictionary]

NOTE – For those who wish – There is much wisdom nested in Webster’s Walsh & Paley quotes.

I am optimistic about America. I believe the hand of God was involved in creating the first Christian constitutional republic in human history. Everything He creates has a purpose. One purpose for America was to demonstrate God’s principles for government, i.e. direction, regulation, control and restraint.

That demonstration has been an inspiration and challenge for the whole world. If America fails because its people rejected God’s governance, it will appear that God’s principles of self-government have failed. The hope of the world will plunge back into darkness.

On the other hand, when God finds reason to do so, He prefers mercy over justice. I am optimistic that there remains in America, sufficient humble repentant prayer and faith, for God’s hand to restore our ship of state.

Granted: Ted Cruz, the candidate whose credentials appeared most qualified, lost to Donald Trump, whose credentials did not appear as wholesome. God’s choices are often different from ours. He invites us to learn by observing his actions.

One thing is for sure. – Christians have no reason to be anything but optimistic. – God is in charge! He will comfort us and use us to demonstrate how to love Him and Love one another. He can even use Donald Trump to lead our nation. As I recall, Ronald Regan had a significant experience with the Lord the night before his first inauguration as Governor.

All that to say this – I believe the combined forces of man and hell will do everything they can to prevent Donald Trump from taking authority. That failing, there may be an effort to use martial law to block the election. If, as I believe, the Hand of God is behind the Trump campaign – those efforts will fail.

Recovery and restoration will not be an easy task. Making America great again will require a lot of work – corruption runs deep! Participating in true recovery and restoration is something we can all be optimistic about!
