Isa. 59
On the Eve of Rosh Hashanah
LOOK, LOOK, WHAT DO YOU SEE?? A nation crumbling, disengaging with green, putrid corruption. Your sin has separated you from your God. Your hands are defiled with blood, and your hand’s race to do evil. Your lips continually speak lies and utter that which is perverse. No one calls for real Justice or wants to hear the truth. You continuously plot trouble, harm & disruption. You have delighted in all dark things and have partnered with the evil one. Violence is at your core. You race to shed innocent blood and run to do all manner of evil. Your thoughts are full of destruction. There is no justice in the land, and you do not know peace. Ultimately, you call that which is good evil & that which is evil good. America, you have become the epitome of a godless nation. BUT- it was not always so. There is hope America.
“Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear.” Isa 59:1 Salvation is the overall theme of the Bible, God’s Word.
As we look through the Window of the Word, we see a vivid description of the state of Israel during Isaiah’s time. It is an eerie reflection of the condition of America.
In chapter 59, Isaiah gives the description of Israel but tells of the repentant heart of a remnant of His people. “Justice is far from us,” they cry. “We wait for light, … but we walk in darkness. We grope for the wall like the blind as if we had no eyes. We stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men. … our sins testify against us. We sin and lie against the LORD, and depart from our God, we speak oppression and REVOLT. We conceive and speak falsehood from the heart. … Justice is turned backward, & truth is fallen in the street…” Turn back, America!! Back to God and your founding biblical principles, the bedrock of your existence.
Isaiah goes on to say the remnant that turns from sin and back to God becomes prey or faces persecution, but the LORD sees the injustice and asks, “where are the intercessors?” In vs. 17-19, the LORD puts on the BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS AND THE HELMET OF SALVATION and prepares for WAR. (Perhaps the basis for the Christian’s armor in Ehp. 6:11.) He declares the East & the West will fear His name. “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard (a battle flag) against him.” The REDEEMER will come to His people and to those that turn from sin. THE BATTLE BELONGS TO THE LORD!!!
Isa. 60:1 “Arise, shine: for thy light Is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.”
Repent, America come back to God!!!
